Journal of Information Technology in Construction is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on the application of information technology in architecture, civil engineering, and facility management. Report on academic research and innovative industrial development work related to information technology throughout the design, construction, and use lifecycle of buildings and related facilities.
Its focus is to display research achievements involving interdisciplinary and/or life cycle phases, covering information technology strategies, construction process and enterprise modeling within organizations and groups from individual companies to enterprise alliances to national construction industries, building process reengineering using information technology as an enabling technology, concurrent engineering methods, communication supported by information technology (such as hypermedia, the Internet, video conferencing, etc.), databases, translation methods, interprogramming remote communication, shared object libraries and other computing technologies for data exchange and sharing, technologies and standards for building digital representation (such as building information models), standards for data structure and exchange in the construction process (such as building classification systems EDI messaging, document management, building code representation, component libraries, information technology-based building problem solving methods (such as expert systems and artificial intelligence, case-based reasoning, simulation, neural networks, genetic algorithms, etc.), computerization of building standards, specifications, and regulations, and remote learning of civil engineering using information technology itself.
