【关键词】英语 完形填空

完形填空,结合了多项选择题和填空题的优点,是一种经济有效的用于测量学习者的综合语言能力的技术。它也是一种测量考生的词汇和语法的很有用的办法。更甚者,它间接地测量考生的阅读理解能力和逻辑能力。如今,在许多大规模的测试中,如高考英语考试,全国大学英语等级考试(CET),全国高校英语专业等级考试(TEM)和研究生入学英语考试等,完形填空已经受到广泛欢迎,完形填空是英语测试的一个重要组成部分,近年来对完形填空的研究日益增多。

国内完形填空的研究主要集中在引介、效度研究、策略研究和教学研究几个方面。

1完形填空引介

完形填空第一次被引介在国内的学术期刊是在1985年《国外外语教学》鲁曙明发表的论文《Cloze 与英语作为外语能力的水平》中(鲁曙明,1985)。随后,李光荣(1990)介绍了完形填空的由来以及在教学中运用。 刘润清(2000)、李筱菊(1997)、舒运祥(1999)等都在其专著中介绍了完形填空。此后,由于完形填空在各大型考试种的广泛应用,大家也对完形填空题型逐渐熟悉,关于完形填空题型引介的文章发表很少。

2完形填空效度研究

对完形填空效度的研究,国内学者也非常关注,但多数集中在大学以上的英语测试的完形填空效度研究。何莲珍(1999)对比研究了分题选择完型填空和集库式型填空,结果发现这两种题型作为阅读理解测试的一种形式,集库式完型填空具有的效度比分题选择完型填空具有的效度更高。陈晓扣(2001)研究表明试题难度、区分度和效度受到考点层次和推理因素的影响。陈晓扣、李绍山(2006)从考生答题过程的角度对 TEM-4 完型填空测试的结构效度进行研究,并在此基础上,尝试性地提出了一个计算结构效度系数的公式:CVI=CTTP /TTTP2。

范丽霞(2005)研究中对受试者所表现的状态焦虑数据分析和对比,并对合理删词完形填空和多项选择完形填空表面效度问题进行了讨论,结果发现多项选择完形填空表面效度比合理删词完形填空更高一些。曾晓丹(2010)研究发现,2005年到2009年研究生英语考试完形填空试题具有较高的内容效度,抽样有代表性,测试了考试大纲规定要测试的内容。李荷(2011)研究发现华夏学院2011年期末考试英语完形填的内容效度和环境效度较高,但信度不高。袁慧(2014)研究发现,考点层次的提高、选项的干扰性适当加大可以使大学英语四级集库式完形填空的内容效度得到提高。对于中学阶段英语测试的完形填空效度研究相对较少。武瑞(2010)研究了上海市2000年至2009年高考英语测试中完形填空的效度。丁茹竹(2014)研究表明陕西省2009年至2013年中考英语测试完形填空具有较高的表面效度。

3完形填空与策略研究

由于在我国各级各类考试中完形填空所占的分数比例相当的大,许多关于解题技巧和应试策略研究便逐渐增多。李建仓(2003)和李建武、周丽聘(2006)分别讨论了完形填空的命题特点与解题策略。谢期繁(2005)对 2005 年高考广东卷完形填空的命题与解题进行了分析。周小玲(2006)对大学英语四级考试中完形填空的解题技巧进行了分析讨论。同年,张若昕(2006)对研究生人学考试和英语专业四级考试中完形填空的解题策略进行了研究。吴磊(2006)从研究中发现高中生运用英语学习策略的整体水平低下,特别是元认知策略、情感策略和交际策略的运用频率都很低, 在高中英语完形填空运用学习策略进行训练,得出学习策略训练和具体的学习任务相结合是切实可行的,它不仅能够提高学生的学习成绩,而且也能发展他们的自主学习能力。潘诚, 居永梅(2009)研究完形填空的出题角度及题型特点,指导学生掌握一定的解题技巧及应试策略,对于提高四级考试整体成绩具有重要的现实意义。

4 完形填空与教学研究

随着语篇语言学的快速发展,我国学者逐渐开始了完形填空与语篇教学相结合的研究,而且在短期内出现了很多研究成果。 郑亚娟(2006)经过研究发现,通过在教学中加强语篇分析,引导学生在语篇中去理解句子,有助于增强学生的语言综合运用能力,进而学生的完形填空解题能力得到提高。周茜(2006)剖析了专业四级完形填空题的变化,并提出:语篇教学已经不应该只是局限在课文自身的语篇分析上,将语篇的认知解读理论应用于语篇理解,对语篇教学进行补充。刘俊芳、张义(2007)阐述了怎样通过语篇分析进行完形填空题解题,同时以实例证明了利用语篇分析解答完形填空题的可行性。矫永芹(2008)从图式理论、语篇的衔接以及连贯理论的角度来分析完形填空,并指出英语教学不应该仅仅是停留在句子的层面上,应该达到语篇分析的高度。张君(2009)阐述了完型填空的产生、形式、特点,分析了语篇的概念及其衔接连贯性,对完型填空中的语篇重构有着非常重要的意义。张翼舒(2010)从测试和语篇的角度出发,阐述并论证了高中生语篇意识与完形填空成绩的相关性。张军霞(2011)研究发现,教师在平常的教学过程中,在讲授新课和讲解完形填空题时以语篇分析作为指导,可以有助于增强学生完形填空的解题能力。张风萍(2014)研究提出在高中英语完形填空教学中是有语境理论是必要的,也是可行的。钱蕾(2014)阐述了在进行初中英语阅读理解教学以及完形填空教学时,怎样高效地使用图示教学法,证明其是影响教学效果的关键因素。

5小结

综上所述,在国外对于完形填空的研究开始比较早,发展的时间有六十多年,研究内容比较丰富,研究层面更为宽阔,研究方法更趋于成熟。而国内对于完形填空的研究开始时间比较晚,但研究的成果呈现逐年上升的趋势。国内的研究从内容上看多是针对完形填空的命题方法、解题策略和教学进行研究,对其效度、信度的研究并不多。从研究方法上看,文献研究较多,实证研究较少,实证研究中定量研究较多,定性研究和综合研究较少。其中效度研究的研究视角缺乏多样性,多数是从试题构成的角度,并且研究多数带有主观性经验特征,相应的实证研究不多。

I made up my mind to drive to South Carolina to meet my friends in my used car. Though I had only been there once__1__and did not know the__2__very well. I was on the__3__after I had made some inquiries (询问).

The sound of the rain hitting the windows wakes me up and it sound just exactly as it did 15 years ago, which reminded me of my girlhood.

一、重视首句的开篇启示作用

“完形填空”所采用的短文一般没有标题,考生也就无法借助标题推知全文大意,但短文的道句通常是一个未被‘’掏空‘’的完整句子,这便是我们探索短文全貌的“窗口”。考生应努力抓住首句或道段文句的提示意义,判断出文章的体裁,迅速推测全文的大意乃至主题。这样才会感到思路通畅、从而跨出正确解题的第一步。因此,我们绝不能忽视首句的提示作用。

二、通读全文,快速了解全文大意

每当遇到这种题型,有些学生习惯于边读边填空,或者干脆把文后A、B、C、D四个选项纳入短文空格一起“育读”,”急于求成。然而“欲速则不达”,结果往往是“只见树木、不见森林”。正确做法是;依据首句给出的提示,通过逻辑思维,捕捉文中关键词语的语义意思,借助连词以及有连词作用的副词、代词、关系词、介词及插入语,跳过一个又一个空格,尽快把全文通读一至三遍,快速掌握全文大意。

三、先易后难,瞻前顾后

在掌握文章大意后,先做最有把握、最熟悉的题目。在没有弄懂第一个所在句子的意思时,切忌慌着去做题吗,这是因为,提供的选项往往有一定的迷惑性,一旦思路误入歧途,就可能出现连锁反应,导致一连串的错误。因此,在遵循忠于全文大意和主题的前提下,要联系上下文展开逻辑推理。这样,随着理解的深入,答案自然地就浮现出来。对于难点,要反复推敲,比较差异,根据意义、语法和逻辑等方面来判断选择,从而找出一个最适合题意的选项。

四、复读全文,验证答案

全部空格填满后,看文章是否流畅、内容是否清晰、主题是否突出。遇到存疑之处,应从意义和语法两个角度权衡优,从而改正错误,弥补疏漏。

以上所谈解题技巧不是“万能钥匙”,更代替不了应该具有的知识和能力。因此要熟练驾驭“完形填空”这一题型必须做到;

After all of these years I can still remember the first time I placed my newborn baby son into my Grandmothers arms. 完形需先完义,也就是说完整准确地掌握短文的大意是解答完形填空题的关键。一般来说,这类题在未完形前,跳越空格阅读文章是能够基本上弄懂文章的主旨大意的。完形填空所选择的短文往往首句不掏空,为一个完整的句子。这个句子是我们理解短文大意的关键,也可以说是一个窗口,对全文起启示作用。所以,做题时尤其要注意首句的启示作用,把它提供的信息当作解题的指南,展开思维,理解内容,判断体裁,明确文章主旨大意,为选择做好基本准备。在通读全文时,首先应对文章进行快速阅读,意思不明的地方可暂时搁置,继续读完文章。开始就对每句话进行逐词的阅读是不可取的。我们应注意不要在没掌握文章大意的情况下边阅读边做题,只抓住一词一句,不顾全文的做法是不可取的。这样既会放慢解题的速度,也会降低准确率。在阅读时,应注意找出关键词,中心句,可用笔做些记号,划出文章的代表人物,表示重要情节的词,以利于理清思路。

二、 通盘考虑,推理判断

在了解文章大意的基础上,按照文章的先后顺序,对每道题所给词语的确切含义进行分析比较,并考虑到全文整体意境的影响,做到瞻前顾后,上下文相呼应。同时运用逻辑思维,根据行文线索及相关的信息来推断文中人物或作者的观点,意图,态度,语气等,从而揣摩出文中的未知信息。根据语境选出既合乎语法又合乎语义的最佳答案。做此类题,切记孤立地局限于某个单句所提供的语境,以免断章取义,顾此失彼。

三、解决疑难,消除遗漏

如果遇到一时难以确定的答案可以先不填,先做后面的或有把握的,待填完其它空白后,再回过头来结合文章仔细推敲这四个选项。可先排除明显干扰项,再通过综合对比分析,去掉似是而非,迷惑性最大的选项,然后选出最佳答案。如果确实有某个题的答案无法确定,就可以进行合理猜测,千万不要出现不填的空格。
